Sleeping in ‘til the afternoon. Seeing new cities. Cooking onions and more onions. Radically running towards the face of Jesus. And giggling with each other for all of the days.
So, so much work in dating brought us to this sweet season of marriage: Calling it a night, when we wanted to stay. Choosing repentance and transparency, when we wanted to hide in shame. Drawing the line way before half-way-down-the-hill. Valuing the messiness, even hurt, that comes with relationships over the ease and comfort of stonewalling or pulling away. Surrendering our pride and quickness to withhold grace towards the other’s sin. Pursuing Jesus’ will and glory over our own desires. Each. And every. Day. So, so hard. But undeniably worth it all.
