Wilmington, the land of English ivy, Spanish moss, & tree-lined roads, we loved your oh, so sweet charm, natural beauty, & quaint architecture. Your downtown had a small town, relaxed feel AND it sat right on the river. We walked or biked everywhere & were just a short drive from some of the most wonderful beaches. The Southern Coast is definitely won me over.
Brunch at Causeway Cafe
Beach day at Wrightsville
Bike the Historic District
Grab a bite at Saigon Bistro
Watch the sunset over the river
Wander down Live Oak Tunnel
Greensboro, you have everything a big city has to offer, while still seeming like a little town; You had artsy, urban neighborhoods side by side with beautifully secluded lakes (And your food was to die for!). Favorites, that we are still raving over, are:
Hops Burger Bar
Iron Hen Cafe
Dames Chicken & Waffles
Smith Street Diner
When we were not eating, which was rarely, we were with kayaking on Lake Brandt, cooking dinner with market-ingredients in our treehouse, or hiking the trails of the Bog Garden.

Airbnb is hands-down my favorite way to travel. We stayed on a block with million dollar homes in Wilmington & in a romantic, non-toxic treehouse (yes, treehouse!) in Greensboro for less than $40/night. Seriously, friends.
TRAVEL TIP : Now that Airbnb is past up-and-coming, there are a lot of subpar options that make it onto the website. To weed out some, we always select 'SuperHost' and 'Entire Home' AND read through the reviews. It takes a ton of scrolling past places that are "okay" to find the winners,
the real gems.
